Aperio Global LLC is currently seeking a part-time (1099) System Engineer to join our team. As a part-time System Engineer, you will support the assessment and optimization of Fairfax County’s IT infrastructure as part of Aperio Global's consulting team. This role involves detailed analysis, system management, and making strategic suggestions to enhance system efficiency and security. This project will run for 4 months beginning in mid June, and will work on a hybrid onsite/remote location schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive reviews and management of IT systems, including VMware ESXi and vSphere environments.
- Implement, manage, and monitor updates, system backups, and server configurations.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and disaster recovery architectures are in place.
- Maintain data integrity and security, manage user access, and ensure compliance with the latest industry security standards.
- Collaborate with IT teams to improve IT infrastructure and system efficiency.
Prepare and deliver detailed reports on system health, performance, and recommendations for improvements.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a System Engineer, specifically with VMware ESXi and vSphere.
- Familiarity with Cisco networking technologies and VoIP systems.
- Expertise in system security, data backup/recovery, and network troubleshooting.
- Ability to script in Python, Perl, or another language.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Must have 8-10 years of relevant work experience.
