The NPD Manager is primarily responsible for assisting to develop a realistic New Product Development pipeline, then leading a small team to deliver those products according to the agreed upon schedule. Products include Inorganic elemental standards, IC Standards, organic elemental and other oil condition standards, solid metal standards, geological powders, and a host of other niche products. New Product lines may be added at any time. Performing or coordinating homogeneity testing, qualification testing, and ILAP coordination including techniques such as XRF, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, Sulfur Analysis, Combustion, and many more will be required. Coordination and Communication with multiple departments within Manchester and located globally, will be critical to the success of the program, and the person performing this role.
Roles and Responsibilities
Manage a flow of products from conception, through stage gate evaluations, to completion as a viable product ready for shipment.
Manage a small team of technical people including a sourcing specialist and other advanced research chemists.
Technical and disciplinary management to ensure the timely and high-quality analysis of selected new products, taking into account, or writing and creating, the valid SOPs and operating instructions, as well as the relevant standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 17025, ISO 17034.
Make frequent presentations to various audiences regarding technical aspects of products and/or on the progress of delivering the target list of products.
Coordinate with Sales and Product Management to develop an appropriate list of products to deliver.
Confirm that list is viable and desirable with Finance and Operations.
Work with members of all LGC teams such as regulatory affairs, supply chain, ERM, SHE, Customer Experience, Quality, Production, and more to clear obstacles and successfully deliver the target list of products.
Compliance with all safety and Quality System requirements.
Regular communications and reporting regarding delivery of the New Product Pipeline and any barriers achieving delivery targets.
Source or manage the sourcing of new and unique materials

Qualifications
Essential
Advanced degree in Chemistry, Metallurgy, or Geology
Preferred
PHD in Chemistry, Metallurgy, or Geology
Management experience or academic training such as an MBA
