Job Description
Turner & Townsend Heery is looking for an Assistant Project Manager to support public-sector projects (including municipal, K-12, and higher education projects). The focus of the work will include project management as part of an overall program or smaller individual projects in a client-facing customer service role that may include client and consultant coordination, scope assessment, move management, scheduling, budget management, bidding & procurement and other duties as may be assigned for municipal, educational, government, and public/private partnerships.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with all facets of construction project management including assisting in planning, design, construction, occupancy, and closeout to meet project objectives, budget and schedule including:
- Development of the initial scope of work, budget and schedule
- Project procurement method and project delivery selection
- Identification of resource requirements
- Development of cost estimates and schedule milestones
- Participation in quality control monitoring & documentation
- Implementation of Risk Management controls
- Demonstrates capability to read, understand and apply standard documents affecting projects, including but not limited to:
- Agreements/contracts
- Project design standards
- Programming requirements
- Design and construction contract documents
- Surveys and drawings
- Schedules and cost estimates
- Budgeting and financial reports
- Public procurement requirements
- Interfaces directly with clients to assist in defining and documenting project requirements and acts as an integral part of the project delivery resources/team to achieve project goals.
- Implements communication plan including issuing written reports and/or meeting minutes to keep client and project team informed.
- Tracks progress of each project against goals, objectives, approved budgets, approved timelines, reports status and variances.
- Ensures project data integrity and documentation is accurate, timely and coordinated.
- Participates in change management routines to assess change requests to determine impacts to scope, budget, schedule, quality and risk with management support, formulate recommendations, secure Client approvals, and issue change orders.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers.
- Ability to effectively present information.
- Requires knowledge of basic financial terms and accounting principles.
- Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, sales tax and/or contractor markups.
- Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations.
- Ability to solve problems in standard situations.
- Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Basic familiarity with skills needed to read and understand contract drawings, specifications and contract documents.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from an accredited College or University in relevant field and/or equivalent related experience.
- Prior work experience is preferred – summer internships and/or co-op experience is welcomed.
- Certification credentials from professional organizations such as CSI, CMAA or LEED preferred but not required – Turner & Townsend Heery offers reimbursement for professional certifications and credentials for employees with permission in advance from Human Resources.
