Job Description

AECOM is seeking an established Advisory Services Leader in the Transportation business line to drive client engagement, growth, strategy, and profitability of AECOM’s services in the West Coast of the United States.  This individual will be part of the senior leadership team for the West Coast Transportation Business Line reporting directly to the Regional Business Line Leader and will be tasked with growing a Transportation Advisory Services Practice.  Clientele include Transit agencies, DOTs, and other State and Local governments in California, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon; and Airport and Ports and Harbors clients in 33 states in the US West.  The Advisory Services Leader will provide leadership and coaching to staff in various subjects including, but not limited to, client engagement, management consultancy, business development, and advisory services.  This leader will need to be a self-starter who can build a high-performing team rapidly, demonstrate a successful track record in winning work, and be experienced in running a profitable business.

Job Summary/Responsibilities

The Transportation Advisory Services Leader will need to be a growth minded leader who can work collaboratively with executive leadership of clientele and other senior leadership within West Coast Transportation and other business lines.  The role is designed to be a division/mode agnostic advisory consultancy leader, and will be tasked with building and mentoring a team of advisory staff from the ground up to provide high-end advisory engagements with senior leadership of existing transportation clientele on subject matters such as change management, capital delivery programming and planning, delivery and procurement strategies, digital transformation, sustainability practices, and delivering social value through the built environment. The leader will also partner with other business lines to bring in relevant subject matter expertise and to grow as One AECOM.

The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as an external leader for AECOM transportation advisory services and maintain a visible profile in the marketplace as an industry expert
  • Build and cultivate a high performing team that focuses on general and program advisory services for transportation clientele
  • As a principal, drive growth through new advisory engagements in collaboration with key client account managers, BD leaders, and other transportation leadership
  • Demonstrate relentless customer focus by developing meaningful relationships, identifying and adding value to client needs, and ensuring a client driven culture
  • Report directly to Regional Business Line Leader and support development of internal business strategy along with other senior leadership team members
  • Help build a strong and thriving culture in the business that promotes equity, diversity, inclusion, sustainability, and innovation
  • Lead negotiations of contractual and financial agreements with clients, including development of pricing model and strategy for advisory services
  • Key Performance Indicators include NSR bookings, NSR Delivered, headcount growth, margin growth, market share, wallet share, and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 12 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 4 years of leadership.
  • Must possess a valid US drivers license
  • US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, architecture, planning, or related degree in the AEC industry
  • Prior experience developing business and acting as Principal in client advisory engagements to executives in client organizations
  • 20+ years of experience in the AEC industry
  • 10+ years of demonstrated leadership in managing teams of people and/or P&L experience
  • Ability to build broad and deep internal and external networks, and capable of communicating to inspire and lead others 
  • Ability to teach and mentor technical staff by demonstrated knowledge of relevant technical skills and experience
  • Team-oriented individual with ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate clearly and simply to clients, leadership, and staff
  • Ability to balance various responsibilities and deadlines while maintaining professionalism and quality
