AECOMs established multi-disciplinary nuclear SQEP team based across the UK, have been delivering fit for purposes solutions across the full spectrum of the nuclear sector for over 50 years.  AECOM understands that the nuclear sector is unique, has the upmost need for safety, and an absolute need to manage a myriad of potential risks. Job Description

Being part of the team:

Join our expanding Nuclear Team, contributing to a diverse portfolio of international and UK-based decommissioning and new build projects. We are seeking to enhance our capabilities and recruit an experienced Project Quality Engineer for our Warrington Office.

This is an exciting time for the Nuclear Team with an opportunity to join a large project with many facets and learn more about the Nuclear industry and make a difference to people and systems and help develop best practices and best in class.

    What your new role will entail:

    You will provide support to the Principal Quality Engineer, discipline leads and client with regards to the implementation, communication, maintenance and continuing compliance, improvement of quality systems, policies and procedures for the project(s) they are allocated according to the company quality system and client requirements.

    You can be assigned to a single major project or a set of similar projects depending on the scope of the individual projects. You will be a part of the continued development of a strong and growing team to whom you will provide leadership and robust management.

    • Problem solving - Identifying the root causes of a variety of issues.
    • Preparing reports and documentation of evidence on reported observations and NCR's, and identifying appropriate corrective measures.
    • Reviewing product blueprints and quality documentations.
    • Setting and tracking quality assurance metrics and goals.
    • Coordinating with external Quality Assurance Auditors and work pack disciplines to ensure compliance.
    • Working with internal teams to improve the quality of products for enhancing customer satisfaction.
    • Ability to take the initiative and make sound judgments in work methods and interpreting goals.
    • Ability to work independently and in teams with infrequent supervision and reviewing.
    • High attention to details to ensure proper manufacturing, installation and operation of products.
    • Good analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills and the ability to conduct root cause analyses and devise suitable preventive action plans.
    • Supplier and Customer Liaison: Collaborating with suppliers and customers to ensure appropriate produces and manufactures to specification and compliance requirements are fulfilled.
    • Sincere work ethic for adhering to standards and managing potential cost of poor quality effects on timelines and budget, and the ability to operate under pressure.
    • Ability to identify poor practices, including process deficiencies, ability to produce and write new effective processes and procedures and test them.
    • Be proficient in corrective action processes especially working within a team of cross-functional personnel from different functions.
    • Ability to conduct audits, update our Internal ISO Audit records and assign actions to subject matter experts.
    • Involvement in auditing our systems based on ISO IMS (Integrated Management system).
    • Able to determine quality metrics for all design and discipline procedures, as needed.
    • Be able to identify the root of technical issues and recommend solutions.
    • Be passionate about continuous improvement and identify areas where improvements can be made.
    • Hands-on experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and testing methodologies.
    • Contribute to writing a project quality management plans.
    • Familiarity with statistical analysis, some experience with Lean Six Sigma
    • Experience in the Nuclear industry.
    • Background in working on highly regulated projects and use of quality-assured systems.

    Here’s what we will need from you;

    • Good analytical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Good mathematical skills and proficiency with computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • Great attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
    • Experience in producing Inspection test plans, setting Quality KPI's - critically working within a project and able to monitor and measure them.
    • Able to meet the requirements for security clearance in the UK.
    • Demonstrable experience working as a quality engineer.
    • Process Mapping
    • Internal ISO Auditing or Lead Auditor (ISO 9001)
    • Root Cause Analysis.

    Qualifications

    • A Levels and/or College qualification/s or a relevant degree 
    • Form of formal Quality qualification
    • Working towards a certification in Quality Assurance such as BSI Diploma in Quality, ISO 9001 Lead/Internal Auditor, CQI Practitioner.
    • Full UK driving license or equivalent that permits driving in the UK
