Job Description

What your new role will entail;

Due to the continued growth and expansion of our Nuclear Team, we are looking enhance our technical capabilities and are seeking an experienced Associate Mechanical Engineer- Nuclear Energy, to join our team. This role offers the chance to participate in multi-disciplinary projects at various stages of the lifecycle, from client consultancy to comprehensive turn-key solutions. You will have the vision, passion and track record required to continue the growth of our mechanical engineering offering, being involved in business development, as well as an engineering design role.

You will lead the continued development of a strong team to whom you will provide leadership and robust management. In this high-profile role, you will be the first point of direct contact with clients, partners, and contractors. You will over-see key projects from concept to delivery including design, procurement, subcontract, factory acceptance, installation, site acceptance and commissioning.

This role is ideal for an experienced Nuclear Mechanical Engineer, offering you the chance to work on a variety of the highest profile, short and long-term projects within the sector, and being involved and overseeing the full project cycle end-to-end.

AECOMs established multi-disciplinary nuclear SQEP team based across the UK, have been delivering fit for purposes solutions across the full spectrum of the nuclear sector for over 50 years. We offer technically excellent delivery and strategic services, working in close collaboration with our clients and partners, to deliver the future of energy and the ongoing / planned decommissioning making our UK Nuclear sites safe for the next generation.

This is an exciting time for the Nuclear Team with an interesting and expanding pipeline of both international and UK based projects.

Here’s what we will need from you;

  • Experience in a position heavily focused on design-related tasks, within the Nuclear sector, covering both new construction and decommissioning projects.
  • Experience in team management with exceptional leadership qualities with the ability to offer strategic advice using project and portfolio insights to guide and shape projects and programmes.
  • A track record of successful project delivery, including roles that influenced other engineers in defining, implementing, and completing engineering work packages.
  • Capability to lead and drive business development within a crucial segment of the engineering department, serving as a key holder of resources and expertise.
  • Competence in preparing and delivering technical presentations and conducting peer reviews of technical documents, both internally and externally.
  • Understanding and application of design principles.
  • Familiarity with European and American Standards.
  • Comprehensive experience post-Charter in positions demanding thorough engineering knowledge of applicable practices, techniques, and procedures.
  • Possession of a UK full driving license or an equivalent allowing driving in the UK.
  • Eligibility for security clearance within the UK.

Desired qualifications

  • A Mechanical Engineering Degree at Master's or PhD level, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with MechE or a similar institution.
