We are looking for a qualified accountant, with extensive knowledge of IFRS standards, who enjoys getting involved and advising the Group’s accountants on application of IFRS guidance. The primary purpose of the role will be to support accounting teams throughout the Group and deliver best in class accounting advisory support, focussing on implementing IFRS for the first time, assessing the accounting impact of mergers, acquisitions and disposal transactions, analysing the treatment of other unusual transactions, and preparing Group financial statements.
The Technical Accounting Manager’s finance expertise will make a significant contribution to the technical accounting conclusions for the Group, providing technical accounting advice and support as necessary and delivering technical accounting training to the Teya finance community.
In this role you will be responsible for:
Acting as Group Finance representative who provides accounting support to multiple accounting and finance teams globally.
Providing technical accounting advice as required to financial controllers and embedded finance partners.
Developing a standardised Group accounting manual.
Playing a significant role in the implementation of new accounting standards across the group and updating the Group accounting manual timely.
Overseeing the co-ordination of accounting issues which forms the basis for the document used to brief the auditors, the CAO and the CFO.
Preparing accounting memos relevant to unusual transactions completed by the Group, including conclusions on the appropriate application of IFRS standards.
Playing a key role in the annual reporting and audit process, including co-ordination with group reporting team to ensure financial numbers are accurately reported and explaining the group’s accounting policies to auditors.
Preparing a number of the notes for the financial statements.
Reviewing of the annual report to ensure appropriate reporting of significant accounting matters.
Involvement with projects to further simplify the Group external reporting process.
Preparing and delivering technical accounting training across the Teya finance community.
Strong understanding and application of IFRS and ability to exercise sound and balanced judgement;
In-depth understanding of regulatory/statutory requirements and governance principles/internal control frameworks across multiple jurisdictions;
Significant experience particularly in IFRS reporting;
Understanding of wider corporate reporting (for example, reporting of performance metrics through alternative reporting measures);
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to work effectively both independently with appropriate support and as part of a delivery team;
Ability to work through accounting problems and able to deal with ambiguity;
Experience of working across a global organisation;
Recognised accounting qualification e.g. ACA/ACCA.
