Job Description
Purpose
The trainee technician will be given all the necessary training to provide all the required technical support over three shifts to enable the laboratory to function effectively, while adhering to correct procedures and health and safety guidelines. On successful completeion of the required training, the candidate would be promoted to a technician role. It is expected that this training would take two years.
Role & Responsibilities
- Performing tests in order to produce precise and reliable data.
- Design and manufacture of rigs (with engineering support).
- Constant test monitoring.
- Logging data.
- Filling out comprehensive job logs.
- Taking photographs.
- Taking measurements.
- Fault finding.
- Recording and sometimes interpreting results.
- Following procedures and carrying out safety checks.
- To report, review and provide authorisation of results.
- Act in accordance with the behaviours for UTAC staff at all times.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- GCSE or above.
Experience
- Basic computing skills (required).
- General fitting (desirable).
- Basic fabrication (desirable).
- Vehicle mechanic (desirable).
Skills
- Ability to use general hand tools.
- Excellent record-keeping skills, along with basic maths and computing.
- Must have the ability to learn specific, practical techniques and apply this knowledge to solve problems and create solutions.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organisational, analytical and problem solving skills.
