Digital Catapult will launch a new centre in the West of England. Our ambition is to consolidate a portfolio of projects, legacy and live, (such as MyWorld, and UKTIN) into a thriving, sustainable centre. This role will be responsible for establishing the centre, to be based in central Bristol. They will manage a cross functional team to deliver to the ambitions of the Centre to include; developing existing relationships and generating pipeline leading to new project income. They will be a strong leader with expertise and experience in operational management and Business development. They will be responsible for setting the culture and establishing good working practices. Leadership, commercial acumen and strategic vision will be critical to the success of this role.
This is a contract role until 31/03/2025
Key responsibilities & expected deliverables
Establish and lead the new centre
Secure revenue, partnerships and impact
Create and deliver a pipeline of revenue opportunities to exceed £1m FY1
Operational management of the Centre & team
Build and own local relationships- leading on accounts across the public sector, industry and academia
Manage a cross functional team within a matrix structure
Develop a clear strategy for delivering the most impact to the region, in collaboration with the Director of Growth Opportunities
Lead collaboration with the universities in the region
Provide domain expertise, insight and feedback to support projects in delivery
Represent the Digital Catapult on projects and steering groups
Be an ambassador for Digital Catapult nationally
Requirements
Regional Development expertise: bring knowledge of the key players, processes and mechanisms for regional growth
Creative Industries: Understanding and awareness of the industry and the opportunities
Experience of establishing centres of excellence/hubs/local offices of national organisations - operationally and strategically
Proven track record of developing new relationships, building a network and contributing to the ecosystem
Proven track record of building a pipeline and delivering revenue in excess of £8m
Proven expertise of the financial case for investments in digital technology and data
Understanding and experience of advanced digital technologies: e.g. adoption, benefit to industry, challenges
Connected and networked with relevant players in the local & national ecosystem
Ability to devise regional development plans built on specific insights and understanding of the specific needs of industry within that region
Operational excellence- clear understanding of good practice, simple and organised process and methods
