Job Description
Today, our team are working on the first generation of commercial fusion power plants, developing new renewable technologies to displace carbon-based fuels, and supporting the deployment of large-scale renewable power onto the grid.
Our team is expanding its diverse, creative and highly skilled team to develop the technical solutions that will make net zero a reality. Previous experience in a technical role in the offshore wind, fusion energy, or renewables industry is highly desirable, however, transferable skills from related industries such as civil/ defence nuclear, oil and gas, and other highly regulated industries is valued.
Assystem operates a flexible home and office working policy, with some travel to customer and other Assystem sites.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2:1 BEng qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent). Master level qualifications are preferable.
- Able to demonstrate relatable experience in design engineering in a highly regulated area such as offshore, renewables, energy or nuclear industries
- Experience with design review processes, for example design review gates etc.
- Working level experience of the European and Offshore standards is desirable, for example Eurocode 3 and DNV.
- Familiar with Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and/or Catia CAD software. (Training can be provided)
- Familiar with FEA and preferably user level experience of ANSYS Workbench and Spaceclaim.
- An appreciation for mechanical and structural engineering.
- A strong mathematical background and experience of MathCAD software is desirable.
- An appreciation for the engineering design cycle of mechanical designs from Concept through to Manufacture.
- Responsible for the production of mechanical and structural engineering calculations, FEA, CAD and drawings.
- Experience with producing technical (engineering) reports, e.g. design & substantiation, assembly procedures etc.
- Basic understanding/knowledge of manufacturing processes, e.g. welding, machining etc.

- Ability to manage own time and to deliver within agreed timescales, target cost and quality standards, requiring minimum supervision.

- Ability to travel Assystem offices and customer sites within UK.

- To undertake work packages supporting major UK and international Nuclear Clients.
Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
