Job Description

As a Cybersecurity Engineer working with the Security Operations Manager, you'll protect esure's information systems from breaches and cyber threats. Ideal for those passionate about cybersecurity and looking to specialize in penetration testing, your main focus will be developing technical controls to safeguard our systems while progressively engaging in and mastering penetration testing skills.

Key responsibilities:

  • Security Engineering & Automation: Implement technical controls and automation for enhanced threat detection and response.
  • Security Analysis & Mitigation: Conduct regular security assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Penetration Testing: Develop skills in penetration testing and red teaming, including planning, executing, and reporting on tests.
  • Incident Response: Lead and manage responses to security breaches, ensuring rapid and effective resolution.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Work closely with IT and development teams to integrate security considerations.
  • Mentor junior team members, encouraging a culture of continuous learning.
  • Policy & Compliance: Contribute to developing and updating security policies, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Threat Intelligence: Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats for proactive defense.
  • Standby and Callout: Provide out-of-hours support as part of a standby rota for high-priority alerts and incidents.
  • Continuous Improvement: Recommend and implement new cyber initiatives to improve esure's cyber capability.

Qualifications

What we would love you to bring:

  • Keen curiosity about developing penetration testing skills, with some foundational knowledge or experience in this area.
  • Proven ability in a cyber security environment, with 2-3 years in a Security Engineering role.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, OSCP or other relevant credentials are helpful.
  • Experience leading security incidents in an enterprise setting.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively about cyber security challenges.
  • In-depth understanding of information security concepts, cyber risk management, and various security technologies including XDR, DLP, SWG, ZTNA, SIEM, Email Gateway and Firewalls.
  • Hands-on experience with Active Directory, AWS and Azure cloud platforms, plus Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Superb communication skills, both written and verbal.
