Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Telecommunications Designer to join our Anchorage team. You will be responsible for preparing engineering drawings from sketches or engineering information in collaboration with our multi-discipline engineering and design teams. In this role, you will become familiar with client expectations, scope, budget and schedule for your assigned projects. You’ll use your knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC), TIA/EIA standards, and other codes governing designs to develop specifications, and create installation documents, drawings and submittals. Your knowledge and understanding of workflow between engineering disciplines will allow you to collaborate and coordinate with our internal multi-discipline teams as well as with clients, vendors and contractors as appropriate.
Other duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following
- Plan and design backbone distribution, cable pathways, Audio-visual, and telecom space drawings and schematics for commercial and industrial buildings using CAD software
- Conduct field reviews and surveys to verify accuracy of completed design
- Interpret architect drawings/specifications, blueprints and construction documents
- Utilize BIM software to provide layouts, general arraignments, profile views, details, under close supervision
- Produce installation details and room layouts
- Provide on-site assistance during start-ups and construction
- Produce installation specifications with engineering review and approval
Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science in an engineering discipline
- 10 + years of relevant experience in telecommunication design / drafting
- Proficiency in Revit and 2D AutoCAD
- BISCI, RCDD Certification
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Professional presentation skills
Ideally you'll also have:
- Professional Engineering license
- Prior experience working on federal projects
