Job Description
Summary (of role and how it fits within organisation):
The role will require the individual to design electrical control systems for packaging machinery. This would involve using AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN for circuit designs, complete control system safety analysis using Sistema and issue BOM’s using Agile.
Key Responsibilities:
Within area of operation, the job holder will;
Direct design work on customer projects.
Attend specification meetings with customers, providing authoritative contribution regarding the Electrical design aspects of the project.
Communicate with other design engineers (mechanical and electrical) the design on projects to ensure that these are fully coordinated.
Contributing creative ideas.
Completing engineering design on time to the project plan.
Be aware of cost targets in design, purchase, and assembly.
Document and archiving all project related material.
Carry out risk assessments on machinery.
Attend project meetings.
Provide assistance to Assembly personnel during the build phase of a project.
Duties
Design Electrical control systems using latest CAD software.
Produce Bill of Materials using product lifecycle management software.
Produce shop floor wiring plans.
Assist shop floor fitters with build instructions and face to face support.
Understand and complete safety system checks using Sistema.
Design to worldwide standards.
Work within a team of software engineers and mechanical engineers.
Specific Features
Extensive Electrical Engineering experience.
Valid passport to enable travel within EU and globally as required.
Valid driving license.
Valid work permit to enable employment in the UK.
Willing to travel within UK and abroad.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills
The job holder will hold the following knowledge and skills;
Electrical Engineering HNC or equivalent qualification.
Engineering Experience in capital equipment ideally broad experience within Packaging industry or equivalent.
MS office package.
Effective negotiation skills.
Problem solving ability.
Methodical and clear reporting.
Communication/Cooperation (Advanced).
Engineering Design using AutoCAD electrical or EPLAN.
Ability to design for manufacture and assembly.
An understanding of the machinery directive, UKCA, UL, AS3000 and CE marking regulations.
An understanding of 60204 regulations.
Trained in using performance safety levels and the use of Sistema.
Design to cost targets – essential.
Problem solving/trouble shooting – essential.
Product handling – desirable.
Understanding of Servo motion technology.
