What’s in it for you?
As a Senior Data Insight Analyst within the Data Insights function at Octopus Investments, you will play a crucial role in supporting the team to derive actionable insights from complex data.
This role places a particular emphasis on people management, as you will be responsible for guiding and developing a small team of analysts to deliver impactful insights that contribute to the strategic objectives of the organisation. Reporting directly to the Head of Data Insights, you will be instrumental in driving the success of the central insights function.
The team:
Data Insights is a team of 12 that is a relatively new function within Octopus Investments, and therefore very much in an establishment and growth phase. As a result, you will have lots of opportunities to build things, find resolutions, work on projects, and make an impact and influence how the business uses data.
The work the team does can be grouped into four main categories - access & enablement, insights development, operational intelligence, and campaign & comms support. These categories have been defined with the aim of Data Insights acting as a Centre of Excellence to the wider business.
What will you be doing?
Mentoring and inspiring a team of data analysts, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture where the team is supported in conducting advanced data analysis and modelling to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities.
Working closely with the Head of Data Insights to execute a data-driven insights strategy aligned with business goals.
Enforcing data quality standards - ensuring the accuracy and reliability of insights generated by the team, bringing best practices, and raising the bar in how we conduct analysis.
Effectively communicating complex findings to non-technical stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making.
Fostering strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including sales, marketing, investment teams, finance, and other business units. As well as collaborating with data engineers and IT teams to optimise data pipelines and workflows.
Ideally, you’ll have:
✅ Experience managing, or at least coaching, more junior team members.
✅ Strong proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, including knowledge & experience of data warehousing and with data visualisation tools.
✅ Strategic thinking and the ability to gather, understand & interpret business requirements, aligning insights initiatives with overall business objectives.
✅ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex insights to diverse audiences. Experience working with data engineering teams to deliver data solutions.
✅ Strong SQL experience - you will be very comfortable writing SQL queries and manipulating large, disparate data sets.
✅ A good working knowledge of Python (ideally with hands-on).
✅ Strong problem-solving ability and analytical mindset – you proactively gather the right data from appropriate sources, probe all the facts, and consider other perspectives.
✅ Experience working with data engineering teams to deliver data solutions.
We encourage you to apply even if you don’t tick every box. What’s the worst that can happen?
This role will evolve as we grow and develop. So, if you are looking for a challenge in a fast paced and dynamic business, we can deliver on that.

We promote equal opportunities for growth and development regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability, or socio-economic background.
