Job Descrption
Who are we?
We’re Unakin, a small but venture-backed team building Sawyer, an AI agent designed to take on a range of tasks for game studios. We see this as the future of game development—and we’re looking for one more person to join us!
As individuals, we’re a highly technical and experienced team. You’ll be joining second-time founders, ML PhDs, AI experts from Meta & CERN, and game developers from top studios. This means you’ll be part of a team swinging for the fences, building what we believe will be a transformative product.
What are we building?
Our first product is Sawyer, a coding agent for game developers that can tackle a wide range of tasks—fixing bugs, building new features, completing code reviews, and much more.
We believe that, in the next few years, every programmer will work alongside digital teammates, allowing them to focus less on repetitive tasks and more on creative outputs.
What does this role entail?
We’re biased, of course, but this is a fascinating... role with tremendous potential for the right person. The freedom and impact you’ll have are pretty much off the charts.
As we’re a small startup, you’ll contribute in several areas:
• First and foremost, you’ll lead our benchmarking efforts, helping us evaluate and understand Sawyer’s capabilities. This will involve thorough investigative work, using the agent in real-world game development scenarios, as well as staying on the cutting edge of testing new AI releases.
• Additionally, you’ll help improve Sawyer holistically by building features and empowering the agent to handle more varied and complex tasks.
• While these are your main responsibilities, you’ll also collaborate with the team in other areas, such as producing industry-leading reports and materials.
Who are you?
Experience and skills:
• 3+ years of experience at a game studio or game tech company.
• Expertise in Unity/C# is essential.
• Proficiency in Unreal/C++ is a plus.
• Experience building custom software for gaming, focusing on engine tools (Unity/Unreal) and IDE tools (Visual Studio/Rider).
• A passion for the game development process—we want people who live and breathe this art!
• AI expertise is not necessary (we have enough of those!), but it would be ideal if you’ve worked with AI models as part of your development work.
Other traits:
• Highly analytical: If you don’t enjoy running experiments in a scientific manner, this role won’t be a good fit.
• Ambitious & hard-working: We have a lot to accomplish, and we’re looking for people who want to grow their careers as we grow the business.
Company notes:
• We’re primarily looking for London-based teammates. However, we’ll consider all exceptional candidates, as we offer flexibility with remote and hybrid working options.
• Generous equity package: We see this as an important early hire and will provide competitive equity alongside standard compensation.
• Generous holiday allowance: 28 days of paid holiday + bank holidays.
• Career growth: We’re growing quickly, and there’s plenty of upward mobility for high achievers.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £40,000.00-£65,000.00 per year
Benefits:
• Casual dress
• Company events
• Employee stock ownership plan
• Work from home
Schedule:
