About this role:
We are currently seeking an experienced Deputy Safety Officer and Security Manager to join our team. This dual role is essential in ensuring the safety, security, and wellbeing of all individuals within the stadium and other club facilities, not only during matchdays but across all events... and daily operations. The role requires a proactive and strategic approach to security management and a commitment to maintaining high standards in all aspects of stadium and facility safety.
Responsibilities:
• Assist the Head of Security and Safety Officer in the development and implementation of comprehensive safety and security policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments of the stadium and facilities to identify and address potential hazards.
• Ensure that all safety checks are conducted thoroughly, and any issues are promptly reported and rectified.
• Liaise with emergency services, including the police, fire brigade, and medical teams, to ensure effective coordination in the event of an emergency.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with safety regulations, including the safety certificate requirements, ground regulations, and health and safety laws.
• Participate in the planning and execution of safety drills and emergency response training for staff.
• Oversee the day-to-day security operations of the stadium and other club facilities, ensuring that all areas are secure and that security protocols are strictly followed.
• Develop and implement security strategies for various events, including matchdays, private functions, and public events, ensuring that all security measures are in place and effective.
• Manage the operation of the stadium's control room, ensuring that all surveillance and communication systems are functioning correctly and efficiently.
• Investigate and respond to security incidents, ensuring that all incidents are logged, reported, and appropriately handled.
• Oversee the coordination of stewarding and security personnel across all stands and entry points, ensuring the smooth flow of spectators and adherence to safety protocols.
• Manage the safe ingress and egress of fans, including crowd control, ticket checks, and monitoring of entry/exit points, to prevent overcrowding and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Coordinate with the control room to monitor real-time activities within the stadium, promptly addressing any safety or security concerns as they arise.
• Implement and oversee strategies for the management of high-profile matches, including risk assessments for potential crowd disturbances and emergency response planning.
• Other duties and responsibilities as required by line manager.
• Upholding and promoting the Club’s policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities policies and procedures.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
• NVQ Level 4 in Spectator Safety Management or equivalent. (Essential)
• Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a large stadium or event venue.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• In-depth knowledge of safety and security regulations and best practices.
• Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure, with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in the use of security technology, including surveillance systems and communication tools.
• Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as required.
• A strong commitment to upholding safety standards and ensuring the smooth and secure operation of all club activities and events.
