Job Description

The Microsoft Business Development Manager position is a crucial role to enable the continued growth and high-performance of our Digital, Data and Cloud (DDC) business.

The successful candidate will need to thrive in an environment where change is constant and be prepared to collaborate with teams across Version 1 and within Microsoft, to strengthen our partnership and ensure we delight our customers and drive commercial success together.

This is an exciting role working hand in hand with the growing global DDC Sales team across the Public, Private and Financial Services sectors, to deliver on the following responsibilities -

Partner Relationship Management

  • Work with our Microsoft Hub Lead to execute on Version 1’s Microsoft strategy, using your knowledge of Microsoft's organisation to build strong working relationships with their Sales, Accounts and Customer Success teams to grow awareness of Version 1’s evolving capabilities and case studies.
  • Connect the Account and Business Development Directors in Version 1’s Digital, Data and Cloud portfolio to their Microsoft counterparts to drive high levels of engagement.
  • Attend events and conferences to network with Microsoft stakeholders.
  • Be proactive in keeping up to date on developments at Microsoft to equip the Sales team to keep all conversations with Microsoft relevant and credible.
  • Develop a strong relationship with the Microsoft Partner Development Manager and with Version 1’s Partner Operations team to ensure we have a well-documented annual plan, and that Version 1 is meeting and tracking requirements at the premiere tier and across other identified specialisms.  
  • Be confident in organising and hosting sessions with Microsoft in person and virtually and in presenting at Microsoft community calls, team meetings and events - representing Version 1's commitment to the partnership and championing our customer successes.

Driving Co-Sell and Joint Account Planning

  • Work with the DDC Account Directors to engage Microsoft counterparts in joint account planning activities – sharing our customer journey and identifying opportunities to engage the customer and pursue deals together.
  • Drive referrals from Microsoft to build the Microsoft pipeline and ensure these are allocated to the right Sales leader and followed up in a rigorous and timely manner, with all qualified opportunities reflected in CRM.
  • Secure Microsoft's insight and endorsement on behalf of the Sales team when they are pursuing Microsoft-focused deals.
  • Use tools including CRM to track DDC’s Microsoft forecasted revenue, TCV and net new pipeline and challenge the business to use this data to make decisions based on what's working well and where we need to focus to improve engagement and performance across sectors, accounts and services.

Enabling the Microsoft Go-to-Market

  • Work together with Version 1’s Marketing team to identify partner marketing opportunities that drive new leads by securing funding, incentives and participation from Microsoft. This will include ensuring Microsoft themes and messaging is embedded into Version 1 content and campaigns, where appropriate.

Qualifications

Desired Skills/ Knowledge:

  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft's organisation, services, products and partner programs
  • Min 5. years in partner management role with a focus on relationship building and driving commercial outcomes
  • Experience working closely with senior Sales teams
  • Knowledge of the UK technology market and digital, data and cloud services
  • Experience working in an IT services/ consultancy environment 
  • Confident networker and presenter
  • Desirable; holds existing relationships within Microsoft's UK account teams

This is a full-time permanent role with some occasional client site travel. Hybrid/ remote working options but must be commutable distance for client site/office meetings.
