Job Description
Please note this is a full time role working 36.25 hours per week, on a Sunday to Thursday 09:45 - 18:00 shift pattern.
Training for this role for the first few months Monday - Friday 09:45 - 18:00. There will be a requirement to cover bank holidays and have flexibility in working hours to assist with business demands.
This position will be joining a fast paced Microbiology Food Testing department, with the following main duties:
- Preparation of media (agars etc.) to be used in microbiological analysis
- Sample preparation in line with company protocols
- Microbiological analysis of food, feed and environmental samples in line with company protocols
- Training and operation of relevant equipment
- General housekeeping of laboratory and prevention of cross contamination
- Accurate Data entry into laboratory database
- Accurate record-keeping associated with UKAS quality system
- Effective communication with all employees
- Report any anomalous results or situations to Laboratory Supervisor
- Health and Safety procedures are adhered to within the laboratory
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level/HND in relevant science subject
- A level in a science related subject
- Computer literate with experience of MS Office programmes
- Comfortable working in a busy environment
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work quickly and accurately
- Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
