Job Description

Reporting to the SVP, Strategic Communications, NBCUniversal Media Group, the Director of Strategic Communications plays an active role in crafting and implementing the product, technology and corporate narrative and press strategy for the NBCU Media Group, with a specific focus on the company’s Direct-to-Consumer businesses, including Peacock, while also acting as part of the broader team to support initiatives across NBC, Bravo, E!, Oxygen, SYFY, Universal Kids and USA Network.

 

The Director of Strategic Communications will help develop and execute strategies to maximize the portfolio’s technology narrative, growth objectives, positioning and vision through the development of key messages, media relations and relevant conferences and speaking opportunities. The ideal candidate is passionate about the streaming/tech landscape with experience in building a strong narrative as well as launching new products/features.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Partner with the SVP, Strategic Communications, NBCUniversal Media Group in developing and amplifying the company’s direct-to-consumer narrative with press, consumers and the industry
  • Develop communications plans to support a range of products and programs, including platform innovation/advancements and new business initiatives
  • Create and edit key communications materials, including press releases, Q&A, talking points, speeches and presentations
  • Manage press inquiries in a timely manner, and build and maintain relationships with key tech, business and trade reporters
  • Collaborate seamlessly with communications colleagues, and partner with teams across the division, including product, marketing, operations, research and programming, to provide communications support and counsel
  • Maintain an active pulse and perspective on the trends in the streaming space
  • Recognize and adapt to rapidly changing business needs and prioritize accordingly

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

 

  • At least 8 years of Corporate Communications experience, including hands-on experience in product communications and working on product announcements, launches and campaigns
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced matrixed corporate environment with multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to develop smart, concise and impactful messaging
  • Proven successful track record in strategic communications and media relations
  • Strong relationships with technology/business journalists
  • Strong critical thinking skills in developing proactive solutions with long-term implications in mind, prioritizing key opportunities and anticipating issues
  • Hyper-efficient time management skills to handle and prioritize multiple projects at once and the ability to work quickly yet accurately to meet tight timelines
  • Ability to collaborate across teams, working as a trusted cross-functional lead and mentoring other team members

Additional Requirements:

 

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
