This is an exciting opportunity to take responsibility for the construction of some of the most innovative, unique and luxury gardens in the country. Our client operates in the super prime sector, designing and building gardens and landscapes with project values from £½m to over £10m and associated with residential properties of eye-watering values! Many projects are associated with major property renovations, including the construction of extensive basements and a huge range of garden structures. This is a role that requires the closest attention to detail coupled with a good horticultural knowledge and a sound understanding of construction and civils work.
The Job:
The Contracts Manager looks after 2 or 3 projects at any one time and is involved from the initial garden design through to the completion and handover to a delighted client. Their involvement increases as the project goes into the... construction phase when they work closely with the client, site staff and the QS whilst reporting directly to the company Directors.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of luxury garden and landscape projects, ensuring that the highest quality standards are maintained
• Being the principle point of contact for the client and facilitating the “client journey” from sale to handover.
• Day to day responsibility for the site construction Team, including training, appraisals and inductions.
• Ensuring adherence to the companies Health and Safety policies and procedures.
• Resourcing and procurement of materials and developing relationships with suppliers.
• Resourcing and managing subcontractors, developing strong relationships covering all of the trades on site.
• Provide comprehensive reports on project quality, deadlines, and performance to enable directors to monitor and manage ongoing project progress and financials.
• Keeping detailed records of materials, human resources, extra works, variations and invoice events.
• Utilize a range of office software, including email tools, Excel spreadsheets, and project management software like MS Project, to streamline project tasks.
• Demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to new skills within a dynamic and innovative work environment.
The Person:
You will have had considerable experience in Garden and commercial Landscaping, most recently in the super prime, luxury sector. You will be experienced managing multiple teams on different sites including employed and sub-contract staff. You will have a good horticultural knowledge together with an understanding of hard landscape construction and some civils where your work meets other contractors. As a “face of the company” you will be professional, credible and eminently capable in your communications with both Clients and Staff.
• An effective Team Leader with demonstrable operations management experience
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Financially literate with experience of managing projects and resources in line with budgets
• IT literate with a good knowledge of MS Office applications
• An understanding of the practical, technical, financial and qualitative requirements of a garden project
