Job Descrption
The Role
• We are currently recruiting paralegals for our Mental Health Department;
• You will be supporting solicitors in advising and assisting people detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 as well as conducting your own caseload;
• The position is based in Hammersmith, London;
The Candidate
• Being a PANEL MEMBER with previous experience in the mental health sector is ESSENTIAL for this role; It is also important that applicants have a genuine interest in and commitment to upholding the rights of detained patients and vulnerable individuals;
• It is preferable that applicants have a full driving license and have use of a car as the hospitals we visit are often remote.
Prospects
• We view this as a long-term appointment with the possibility of a training contract subject to performance;
• Support to become accredited by the Law Society in order to be able to conduct advocacy – subject to performance / commitment.

• Thorough training in law, practice and Legal Aid Agency requirements;
• Hybrid working (minimum of 2 days in the office for supervision / development);
• Annual salary of £25,000 - £32,000 (depending on experience) and 20 days holiday.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £25,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
Schedule:
• 8 hour shift
Ability to commute/relocate:
• London: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:
• tribunal representation: 2 years (required)
• Paralegal: 2 years (required)
