Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 DOE (+ up to £3k bonus)
Working hours: Monday - Friday, Approx. 9am - 5pm

The Role

Food Republic are looking for a capable and skilled Quality Control Officer to work closely with the Stock, Sales, and Warehouse Teams to ensure that all quality standards and legal requirements are met at all times. They will oversee the implementation of internal quality policies and procedures, the management of Food Safety Management Systems, as well as coordinate requirements for... external audits, ensuring full compliance.

The key responsibilities of a Quality Control Officer include, but are not limited to:
• Implementing quality standards established by external bodies and integrating these within internal quality management systems.
• Analysing and reporting on company performance against established standards, proposing actions to improve performance where necessary.
• Ensuring all staff have been trained to relevant quality policies and procedures.
• Reviewing the company’s current quality policies and procedures, highlighting areas of improvement, and proposing corrective actions.
• Developing a communication strategy to promote awareness of packaging and transport regulations, product quality issues, and compliance across all departments.
• Liaising with customers and suppliers regarding quality-related issues.
• Coordinating and cooperating with quality management and standards bodies (e.g. DEFRA, Government Departments, HSE, etc.).
• Developing and maintaining Food Safety Management Systems.
• Active involvement as a Team Leader of the Food Safety Team.
• Ensuring that the condition of the warehouse is maintained to meet food safety regulations.
• Overseeing the accurate and timely completion of monitoring documentation.
• Participating in external audits, coordinating the requirements and responsibilities to all staff.

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Quality Control Officer include, but are not limited to:

Essential skills/qualities:
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in QA/QC role within the food industry
• Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and quality control standards
• Level 3 HACCP or a willingness to complete
• Level 3 Food Safety or a willingness to complete
• Strong track record of meeting deadlines and achieving set KPIs
• Proficient in data entry, maintaining a high level of accuracy
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite with strong Excel skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills
• Proactive and methodical in addressing problems and sourcing solutions
• A team player with a flexible attitude and willingness to learn
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• GCSE Maths and English (A*- C) or equivalent

Desirable skills/qualities:
• Experience with external audits
• Proficient in Microsoft Dynamics 365
• A-Level Maths or equivalent
