Job Title: Senior Quality Assurance Officer
Reports To: Head of Quality Assurance and Compliance (HoQA)
Key Purposes of the role:
• Develop and implement the Colleges’ Quality Assurance policies and procedures annually or when required. Ensure that these are updated annually, approved by the relevant committees and boards, and that all staff, students and stakeholders have the opportunity to contribute to their development.
• Maintain an up-to-date awareness of all regulations and legislation the College must abide by in order to ensure that the policies and procedures remain aligned with UK Quality Code, Conditions of Registration, regulations and rules of relevant regulatory and awarding bodies.
• Ensure any necessary workshops/training sessions are held to support the full implementation of Policies and Procedures, leading the sessions where required. Ensure staff, students and prospective... students have access to the Policies, Procedures and reports that they require.
• Write or contribute to the writing of submissions and responses made to external organisations, including the QAA, current Awarding Bodies and any future awarding bodies the College may seek to develop partnerships with.
• Collate and organise supporting documentation and evidence required to complete submissions/responses to external organisations and develop or oversee the development of any additional documentation, as required.
• Write or contribute to the creation of action plans, such as Action Plans written in response to Recommendations or areas of Good Practice identified by the QAA/DQB. Oversee the completion of actions and continuously update the Action Plan, providing regular reports to relevant committees and boards.
• Review the internal Unit Evaluation Reports, Programme Annual Monitoring Reports (AMRs), College Annual Monitoring Report (CAMR) or similar reports and provide commentary on accuracy of the data presented in these reports and timeliness and achievement against the KPIs agreed at the College or programme level.
• Represent the Quality Assurance Department at College meetings, providing clarification on current policies and external expectations regarding the quality assurance of higher education.
• Provide commentary on accuracy of the data presented in the college reports and achievement against the KPIs agreed at the College and/or programme level.
• Review assessment briefs for samples of all programmes delivered by the College every term and comment on the extent which these assessment briefs are fit for purpose, relevant to work life, easy to understand, students find enjoyable and easy to address.
• Oversee markers and assessors training to ensure marking is fair to students and adequate feedback is provided to students. Review samples of internal verification forms of assessment briefs and assessment decisions.
• Review accuracy of the records entered in the College SMS, submitted to the various committees and external agencies, and included in the College reports in relation to number of students, assessment submission, pass rates and progression rates.
• Oversee the work of the Academic Quality Assurance Officer (AQAO) and Quality Assurance Officer (QAO), providing support where necessary.
• Any other duties as assigned by the Principal, HoQA and/or Directors.
Essential Requirements:
• Understanding of Higher Education and academic quality assurance;
• Knowledge of other external agencies relating to HE e.g. UCAS, UKVI etc;
• Previous experience in an Educational or related quality assurance role;
