We are looking for someone who is passionate about improving the health of the population, reducing health inequalities, and interested in working at the national centre of excellence for prevention and surveillance of infectious diseases.
Work That Fellow Is Expected To Undertake
Recruit few pilot study sites in primary care (with a support from UKHSA and using... established networks) Identify research question (depending on Fellows interest), develop topic guide to conduct interviews and focus groups Conduct some qualitative interviews and focus groups with primary care staff on the importance of health protection prevention in primary care with a specific focus on BBV (Hep B, Hep C and HIV) to understand barriers to vaccination, contact tracing, testing etc. Potentially also interview/survey patients, this would be dependent on how quickly we can obtain ethical approvals, and if it is needed Analyze qualitative findings, supported by behavioural scientists team at UKHSA If there is capacity, either analyse or support some analyses of the routine data sources. If no capacity for analyses, interpret some analyses to understand BBV epidemiology, identify inequalities and inform guidelines/recommendations development Write a short paper on findings and recommendations on improving BBV prevention and management in general practice Develop a communication plan on how to disseminate findings Fellow will also be expected to take up various learning opportunities at UKHSA such as lunch and learn sessions, training on behavioural research, data analyses etc. Depending on Fellows interest, they would be encouraged to join staff equality and diversity networks and workplace wellbeing networks Shadowing at national meetings such as HIV Action Plan Implementation Group etc.

This role is based at Colindale
As it is based at one of our scientific locations you will be required to have a Counter Terrorism Check security vetting check as a minimum. For meaningful National Security Vetting checks to be carried out individuals need to have lived in the UK for a sufficient period of time. You should normally have been resident in the United Kingdom for the last 3 years as the role requires Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) clearance. In exceptional circumstances UK residency less than the outlined periods may not necessarily bar you from gaining national security vetting and applicants should contact the Vacancy Holder/Recruiting Manager listed in the advert for further advice.
Successful candidates must also pass a disclosure and barring security check.
Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is Basic Personnel Security Standard.
