Senior Controls Specialist (High Travel) - JMP Solutions, a Convergix Automation Company
The Automation and Robotics Division is a team of problem solvers who automate and improve manufacturing processes through innovative projects. Our team members tackle challenging robotic pick-and-place, packaging, palletizing, assembly, and quality inspection applications for clients across North America in multiple industries. Typical projects range between 3-12 months in duration, $100k to $10M+ in value, and 3 to 20 awesome team members you can count on.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support customers experiencing challenges with existing robotic automation equipment by first gaining a thorough understanding of the current condition and issues.
• Troubleshoot onsite or remote... highly technical challenges with customers, often with little prior direct experience with the system or customer requiring support.
• Perform scheduled semi-annual service visits.
• Perform regular preventative maintenance on robots, including tasks such as oil replacements, cleaning, and lubrication to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
• Provide an extraordinary customer experience while tackling field service requests.
• Calibrate and troubleshoot PLC’s, robots, motion systems, and vision systems.
• Test and implement a variety of robotic and flexible automation systems.
• Provide input and feedback to team members to support continuous improvement.
• Gain exposure to several industries including food, consumer packaged goods, and heavy machinery.
• Travel to customer sites in North America several times per year, typically lasting 1-2+ weeks per trip, with typical travel up to 60-80% of the year.
What qualifies you for this opportunity?
• A minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing and/or integration environment using Rockwell/AB controls, HMI’s, sensors, and vision systems.
• Experience with Robotics would be considered an asset.
• Eagerness to roll-up your sleeves to troubleshoot equipment, turn wrenches, and check wiring.
• Ability to comprehend existing PLC and robot programs, electrical drawings.
• Relentless pursuit of learning and growth in the world of industrial automation.
• Loves to travel and be on the road, thrives in high pressure situations.

Physical Demands:
• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.
• Specific vision abilities required for the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
