HR Officer/Advisor
We are an Italian, family-run business that manufactures specialist Italian cheese, meats, and fresh pasta. We are leading importers and distributors of Italian foods, wines, and provisions. As a well-established business, we deliver our products nationwide and are renowned throughout the wholesale, catering, and restaurateur trade.
We are now looking for an HR Officer/Advisor to join our London team. The HR Advisor will work alongside the HR Administrator/Officer and HR Manager. We have 225 employees in our business and linked sister companies with approximately 75 employees, whom we also support.
The role is a generalist HR position, offering an exciting opportunity for a candidate who enjoys engaging in a variety of HR areas. We are a small, friendly team, and there are numerous opportunities to help shape and enhance company culture.
The Role
• Managing disciplinary, grievance, absence, and performance management issues end-to-end and advising & coaching... managers on team management and best practices.
• Taking minutes and creating HR documentation.
• Handling recruitment, including shortlisting candidates, interviewing, and setting up trial shifts in different departments.
• Updating and maintaining HR systems, with a view to exporting to payroll.
• Initiating and driving engagement strategies focused on staff retention.
• Confidently working with department managers and executive teams to drive the HR strategy.
• Developing and driving Learning & Development (L&D) opportunities within the company.
• Keeping up to date with HR legislation.
• Covering other HR duties during holidays.
• Projects designated by the HR Manager.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
• Part CIPD qualified (Level 5) or working towards it, with a confident knowledge of UK employment law.
• Previous experience as an HR Officer in a hospitality, retail, or manufacturing environment is preferable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Direct experience in advising on performance, disciplinary, grievance, absence management, and general employee relations issues, including termination of employment.
• Experience in coaching managers.
• People-oriented.
Offer
• 40-hour contract
• 8.45 am – 5 pm (flexibility can be discussed)
