Job Descrption
Quality Assurance Engineer
Location: London / Hybrid (3 days a week from home)
Team: Product Development
The Role:
We are looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to join one of our delivery teams in the Rightmove family based in London. We are one of the biggest home-grown brands in the UK. At Rightmove we are developing products to make the experience of finding a home better, quicker and happier for our users.
As a team we believe:
Being a QA engineer is more than just testing, we are champions of quality and we are passionate about embedding it throughout the lifecycle to prevent defects rather than find them, and to build systems we are proud of rather than break them. We believe in testing continuously rather than at the end and that quality is the responsibility of the whole team. We are subject matter experts guiding our teams to think critically about all aspects of delivery not just functional but for example in areas like security, performance, accessibility and... usability.
As a quality assurance engineer, you are responsible for:•
• Actively participating in the refinement sessions by covering appropriate details like acceptance tests, implementation details, risks, release & monitoring details etc. in the tickets
• Helping the team understand and estimate any test efforts, test dependencies during planning and refinement sessions
• Reviewing requirements to understand gaps, the potential user impact, risk and dependencies on other internal/external services in Rightmove
• Reviewing the designs and helping the team deliver features that are accessible and inclusive to everyone
• Pairing with engineers during development and code review to ensure appropriate test coverage at different levels and to avoid any duplication of efforts
• Develop and execute test cases against a defined strategy for web applications written in Java and JavaScript/TypeScript
• Ensuring our automation test framework and coverage is targeted, relevant, efficient and resilient
• Working with the team to determine the root cause of issues, for example: using logs (new relic) and databases
• Collaboratively participating in the QA ceremonies within the team such as bug backlog and triage process
• Actively contributing to our QA community, by sharing your experience and learning
• Consistently utilise available test metrics to define and deliver cross-discipline improvements
We would love someone to have any of the following:•
• Experience working with Java Applications using a modern front end (JavaScript/Typescript)
• A history of working in an agile environment with continuous release mechanisms
• Comfortable working within a complex microservice architecture (Java based)
• Exposure to running and debugging automated test suites
• Experienced in using API testing tools such as Postman, REST Assured
• Ability to adapt to change and a hunger to learn and experiment with new technologies and process
• Comfortable taking the lead to shape effective processes and standards with a lean mentality
