We are looking for a full-time Electrical Engineering Intern to join our Richmond office. This position reports to our Vice President.
Purpose – During your Electrical Engineering Internship at Thompson Consulting Engineers, you will learn from and assist our engineers in the office and in the field on several of our active projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assisting our engineers with various electrical engineering tasks, including:
• Lighting, power, voltage drop and short circuit calculations.
• Lighting, power, technology and audio/visual systems layouts.
• Learning skills in and assisting with AutoCAD and Revit computer aided drafting.
• Learning skills in the field by assisting our engineers and construction administrators on job sites.
• Learning and assisting with reviewing electrical shop drawing submittals to ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code, project specifications and standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• College Junior or Senior working towards a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Coursework in building electrical power systems and lighting design.
• Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• This position requires design and construction administration experience in the K-12, office, commercial, retail, data center, and municipal government markets
• Strong leadership capabilities
• Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
• A commitment to respond to clients at the highest levels.
PAY:
