The Position

The Surrey Cricket Foundation is seeking a Secondary Schools Officer to grow and improve the schools offer within the school environment.

The Officer will be responsible for creation and effective delivery of the MCC Foundation Hubs (or similar) programme. Work closely with the Surrey Schools Cricket Association (SSCA), the Primary School Officer, the Head of Schools and Young People and all relevant parties to ensure all delivery is consistent and forms part of the strategic plan.

The Officer will need to ensure the social media profile of the schools’... activity is improved to celebrate our impact of young people’s lives.

Requirements

What you’ll do
• Lead on the design and implementation of the secondary schools’ cricket offer.
• Work closely with the Surrey Schools Cricket Association (SSCA), Active Surrey and the London department to create and enhance opportunities maintaining a consistent and co-ordinated offer.
• Promote where possible any paid offer opportunities namely Pride of Lions.
• Lead, administer and run all girls only related activity within the secondary school environment.
• Support the transition of participants from school playgrounds into the wider extra-curricular sessions such as Chance to Shine Street, MCC Foundation Hubs, local cricket clubs, ACE Academy, Lord Taverners Super 1s
• Lead and run the Chance to Compete local, county and regional events.
• Support with the planning and successful delivery of Schools Day and any further events as requested by the Head of Schools and Young People
• Promote our inclusion offer at every opportunity.
• Work closely with the Primary Schools officer and Programme and Business Manager to relaunch the schools paid offer to create an agreed income.
• Effective monthly reporting as required.
• Work closely with our social media and impact officer to ensure the schools achievements are celebrated at every opportunity.
• Work closely with the Head of Schools and Young People to ensure all allocated budgets are managed and recorded to the highest standard.
• Be fully responsible for any secondary school programmes linked to Chance to Shine.
• Work closely with our Marketing & Communications Officer to ensure the schools achievements are celebrated at every opportunity
• Work closely with the School Coordinators to enhance indoor cricket opportunity.
• Work closely with the Coach Education Coordinator to support the young leader’s programme.

The Person

The successful candidate will have the following experience / skills / qualities:

Essential:
• Experience in a similar role, paid or voluntary
• A detailed understanding of developing sport, especially cricket, in a secondary school environment
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Ability to learn quickly and a ‘can do attitude’
• Good planning and organisational skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Good computer literacy, including MS Office
• Good attention to detail
• Willingness to work unsociable hours as necessary
• Good time management skills
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

Desirable:
• A keen interest and understanding of cricket
• A full driving licence with access to own transport
• Cricket coaching qualification
• Experience in communicating with secondary schools

Flexibility around working hours and locations within Surrey are vital to the success of this role.

Satisfactory ECB DBS Check, First Aid, Safeguarding and the right to work in the UK will be required.

This role can be based at Kia Oval (London) or at George Abbot School (Guildford).

£30,000 per annum

5% bonus scheme

23 days holiday increasing to 28 days based on length of service
