We are looking for a presentable and experienced Dental Nurse to join our expanding team at The Harley Street Maxillofacial & Orthodontic Clinic. The clinic is located at 107 Harley Street and equipped with state of the art facilities including: in house day case theatre, CBCT and Laboratory.

This is a new role to support our existing team.
The role is to provide nursing and clinical administrative support to ensure highest standard of care is provided to all patients. It is essential that you have proven nursing background including private clinic experience in order to keep up with this rewarding role.
The role does require candidates of the highest calibre. This clinic supports and provides ample opportunity for career progression.
Areas of Responsibility:
· To have individual responsibility for the preparation and organization of the work environment where clinical procedures take place.
·... To provide chair side and first support assistance in both specialties. Assisting with all specialized dental procedures with accuracy and care.
· Set up and close down surgeries, this includes ensuring that working areas are cleaned according to cross infection control standards, all equipment is safe and in full working order, check that all relevant lab work is available and liaise with Dental Laboratories when necessary.
· Anticipate and plan – judge the procedure as to best practice. Make available instruments, equipment and materials for all clinical procedures. Send to HSDU at end of each clinical session.
· Give pre-op and post-op including oral hygiene instructions and advise to patients and carers.
· Ensure specialist equipment is checked, cleaned and in good working order.
· Ensure 100% compliance of WHO checklist for all patients undergoing Surgical Procedures.
· To identify each patient’s medical and dental nursing needs, before, during and after treatment. This would also include personal care to the patient if required.
· Achieve and maintain high standards of cleanliness and infection control in line with current codes of practice.
· Take and process Dental X-rays, complying with current regulations, using PAC and CRIS digital radiographic applications.
· Removal of extra oral sutures and dressing of wounds after flaps and reconstruction surgery.
· To support patients receiving bad news and to liaise with specialist nursing team.
· To undertake administrative tasks and use the patient computer system.
· Recognise and respond to medical emergency situations
· Adaptable to other clinical environments at short notice.
· To participate in ordering and maintaining stock levels using both manual and computerised systems.
· To ensure the maintenance of all records and documentation complies with professional and legal requirements.
· To be flexible regarding working hours to maintain an effective and efficient service.
· To initiate emergency treatment in the event of cardiac arrest and alerting other health professionals within a timely manner,
· Maintain accurate clinical observations and records, interpret the significance of these and ask for advice on appropriate care from senior nursing and medical staff.
· Communicate with patients, relatives and staff in an empathetic way, both face to face or by telephone giving reassurance and developing cooperation in achieving good outcomes on a frequent daily basis.
· Responsible for infection control and cleanliness standards on a shift-by-shift basis by following policy.
· As per our policy follow the safe ordering, storage and administration of medicines.
· Read and adhere to all clinic policies.
Education and Development:
· Maintaining and improving your skills and knowledge through continued professional development and personal development plan agreed annually with your line manager.
· Ensure own compliance with regard to mandatory training and updating of professional requirements.
· Participate in team building/communication activities, to maintain a cohesive, supportive and effective team.
· To lead and be responsible for agreed specific areas of knowledge/ skills for the team.
· Mentor new members of staff.
· To participate in quality assurance and clinical audit programmes,
· To be qualified, or to be working towards, Dental Radiography.
Clinical Governance:
· Maintain active status on the General Dental Council register and comply with General Dental Council Scope of Practice.
· Accountable for own professional actions.
· Report any accidents/incidents or near misses following the incident reporting procedure.
· Adhere to all clinic policies to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
· Contribute to the development of services and participate in patient and public involvement activities.
· To assist in the process of Clinical Governance.
· Support in risk assessment
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay: From £33,000.00 per year

Experience:
• Orthodontics: 1 year (required)
• hospital nursing: 1 year (preferred)
• Oral Surgery: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
• GDC registration (required)
