Project Engineer - Solar PV at Climate17 Ltd

Location: London – Hybrid working available
Role
Our client is a market leading renewable energy developer, seeking to develop, build and operate 1 GW of new clean energy and storage projects in the UK.
They are actively looking for a project engineer to lead the technical aspects of the development and delivery of PV, BESS and other renewable energy technologies.
Responsibilities
• Leading technical topics for EPC contract negotiation including Principles Requirements, Testing and Commissioning, and Technical Documentation appendices
• Co-ordinating external technical advisers for the purposes of project lender due diligence
• Conducting construction inspections to ensure adherence to design, best practice and H&S requirements
• Support EPC tender processes through creation of specifications and evaluation of responses
• Preliminary design including value engineering and optimisation of utility-scale BESS and PV systems
• Procurement support including... equipment specification and manufacturer selection for subset of equipment.
• Assessing sites for design and buildability considerations, focusing on the PV array and BESS aspects
• Performing yield assessments from development through to operations
• Participate in industry events and Code panels focusing on PV and BESS technologies
• Lead innovation projects and topics related to PV modules, inverters, BESS and other generation technologies
Requirements
• Sufficient experience in renewables development, design, construction and commissioning (or a subset of the lifecycle) to fulfil the responsibilities of the role
• Understanding of key solar and BESS technologies and suppliers
• Understanding of best practice for design and cost optimisation for PV and/or BESS systems, or solving similar techno-economic optimisation problems
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, applied maths or equivalent experience
• Experience with PVsyst or other yield assessment software and tools
• Low voltage AC and DC design experience
• Experience in data modelling/analysis
• Experience working with varied stakeholders of renewable energy systems, such as investors, contractors and suppliers, and an understanding of their value drivers and risk appetite
• Familiarity with applicable standards to utility scale PV and BESS
• Experience in managing EPC contractor(s) and Technical Advisor(s)
