Embedded Political and Security Risk Analyst (EMEA) at Lawson Chase
London, United Kingdom

Job Descrption
Overview

A unique behavioural intelligence platform designed to predict emerging risk is seeking an Embedded Political and Security Risk Analyst to work in an embedded role in one of client firms, a major global beverage brand. The role will be based in the client’s London office, with the potential for working 1-2 days a week remotely.

The role will predominantly focus on analysing political and security risk developments and macroeconomic trends from a commercial perspective, assessing company exposure and impact, and forecasting trends. Other work includes supporting business development by contributing to market entry projects, and monitoring and flagging issues that could pose reputational risks, jeopardise supply chains, or damage the client’s brand.

Most work for the client will focus on EMEA, so experience of monitoring and analysing political, security, economic and environmental issues in the region is essential. The ability to get up to speed quickly on new subjects and... in-country dynamics is also vital.

Promoting the team within the client company and maintaining existing relationships between departments will be another key part of the role. The firm is therefore looking for someone with experience of building strong relationships with stakeholders and taking initiative while adhering appropriately to a chain of command.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience
• Familiarity with - or a willingness to be trained in - data analysis and presentation, and software tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau and Smartsheets.
• MA level of academic knowledge.
• Familiarity with OSINT tools and private intelligence providers.

Person Specification
• Four years’ experience of political and security risk analysis in a corporate environment, with the ability to also report confidently on macroeconomic trends.
• A good sense of which developments are of interest to commercial clients. This includes an ability to listen to guidance and understand the needs of the business.
• A proven focus on analysing developments across EMEA for a corporate audience.
• The ability to write clearly, simply, imaginatively and compellingly, to native-speaker standards of English. The applicant must be able to take feedback onboard and adjust their writing to the client’s house style.
• Strong interpersonal skills. This is a client-facing role, so the ability to network and build positive relationships with colleagues is fundamental.
• Self-reliance and the ability to work independently, with little guidance. The applicant must be able to work across different time zones to requirements and deadlines.
• The ability to get up to speed quickly on a country about which you may have little or no experience, and to speak knowledgeably and confidently about it in a client environment.
• Self-discipline and attention to detail. Reading large quantities of material and summarising information succinctly is an integral part of the role
