Bloxd - Game Engine Developer
We’re a profitable video games start-up with 5 million monthly players and we’re hiring team members to join our founding team in London, Kings Cross.
About us
Creating games with editable worlds takes 20k+ lines of well-optimised code and years of development. Bloxd gives you editable worlds in 5 lines of code, within 5 minutes. We hire for strong computer science fundamentals demonstrated through academic achievements, professional experiences or open-source contributions.
About you
You’re passionate about gaming and excited to build great games. You’re excited about the prospect of building games that bring millions of people together and you’re happy to wear many hats (product/UI, design, community management) whilst you iterate on a live product.
The role
This is a unique position that requires strong software engineering fundamentals and an eye for game design which you’ll have the chance to demonstrate throughout our interview... process.
Things you could work on in your first 2 months:
• Profile and optimise performance
• Drive implementation of a monetisation system (subscriptions/IAP)
• Onboard and create APIs for new game developers
• Develop an in-game item marketplace
• Create and own your own game
• Develop new gameplay systems inside existing games
Our tech
We have a TypeScript-first code base and make use of React and Node to build our engine for web-based distribution so you’ll need to be happy to pick these tools up if you’re not already familiar.
Essential traits
• 2 to 40+ years of professional experience in game engine development, software engineering, game development. Yes - we're looking for a wide range of experience levels.
• Experience developing games or game engines either professionally or as side projects.
