About this opportunity

In this role the Psychologist is responsible for the provision of specialized services for clients within multi-disciplinary programs, group programs as well as individualized sessions. We are looking for a Psychologist who possesses a high level of clinical expertise in the areas of occupational rehabilitation, injury management, pain, chronic disease and mental... health (depression/anxiety/trauma). As an experienced Psychologist, you provide expertise in psychological assessment, diagnosis, evaluation, treatment consultation, monitoring of progress/outcomes, return to work/discharge recommendations and reporting. In addition to administering DSM-5 diagnoses, as a Psychologist you would provide clinical consultation services to the interdisciplinary treatment team. You may also be asked to take on a few cases requiring psychological oversight in order to help assess clients and treating psychosocial barriers that are causing impairments in their ability to function at work and with daily living activities.

The clients would be referred by various funders such as Workers’ Compensation, disability and automobile insurers, as well as by public health/primary care providers. This opportunity is well suited to professionals seeking to work in collaboration with other team members which could include, but are not limited to; Physicians, Psychologists, Registered Psychotherapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Vocational Specialists and Kinesiologists. A combination of in-person and telemedicine delivery will be utilized across all programs.

Take an inside look at what you’ll do each day:
• PHD in Psychology from an institution approved by the College of Psychologists of Ontario
• Current registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario
• Membership with the Association of Psychologists of Ontario is encouraged
• Maintenance of individual professional liability/malpractice insurance required
• Minimum of 3 years practicing as a Registered Psychologist is preferred.

Here’s what you’ll need to be successful:
• Relevant clinical practice experience, preferably in an interdisciplinary clinic setting and experience with occupational rehabilitation
• Experience working with a variety of third party payers considered an asset (e.g. WSIB, Auto Insurers, Disability Insurers)
• Practical experience and training in the provision of behavioural therapy interventions (CBT, ACT, DBT etc.)
• Clinical experience in the assessment and provision of appropriate psychological intervention with a variety of conditions that impact overall functional abilities
• Thorough working knowledge of local public and private health care services, as well as community agencies and resources are considered an asset

Additional Skills and Abilities:
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills required
• Ability to work both autonomously as well as part of an interdisciplinary health care team
• Efficiency and responsiveness in provision of required clinical documentation
• Understanding of the funding system and expectations and ability to integrate this into a client centered treatment plan
• Demonstrated work ethic, reliability, maturity and flexibility
• Caseload management and leadership skills required in this dynamic work setting
• Occupational Rehabilitation an asset
• Experience in utilizing telehealth/virtual care methods in service delivery
