The difference you will make as the Head of HSE:
You will be responsible for providing the strategic direction for Riverside Property Services (RPS) business in relation to HSE and establishing the systems and processes to ensure legal compliance and best practice. Ensuring all HSE practices align to Group HSE requirements and are in-sync with Evolve’s HSE safety systems as much as possible.
About you
We are looking for someone with:
• NEBOSH Diploma or Equivalent.
• Member of IOSH, ideally Chartered
• Knowledge of quality and environmental issues as well as asbestos, health and safety regulations and carrying out risk assessments.Ability to show initiative and propose solutions to issues identified.
Job Purpose
Responsible for providing the strategic direction for Riverside Property Services (RPS) business in relation to HSE and establishing the systems and processes to ensure legal compliance and best practice. Ensuring all HSE practices align to Group HSE requirements and are in-sync with Evolve’s HSE safety systems as much as possible.
Role requires you to:
• Develop and implement the HSE Strategy for the RPS, including the development of Objectives and Targets that align to TRG.
• Meet regularly with all levels of the RPS to ensure that the Strategy is understood and that this is being implemented in a consistent and timely manner.
• Ensure that the RPS has sufficient management information and risk data to enable them to manage health and safety within their Teams.
• Attend Safety First Meetings as Accountable Risk Lead for RPS.
• Prepare Management Reports, as requested and specifically for Boards, and Senior Management Team.
• Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, including RIDDOR. Make sure risks are mapped and known at all levels of the business.
• Ensure that employees are consulted with on matters of HSE.
• Manage the HSE Team to ensure that they provide an excellent service to internal and external customers.
• Have responsibility for the Approved List of sub-contractors, suppliers and consultants.
• Drive the continuous improvement of HSE within the business, including the maintenance of the Integrated Management System of ISO 14001 and 45001.
• Coach and develop staff to ensure that they fully understand their responsibilities in relation to HSE and are competent to undertake them.
• Ensure that HSE training is provided, in line with the Training Matrix.
• Ensure that the business is supported by robust HSE systems, processes, policies and procedures.
• Promote a ‘safety first’ HSE culture, which is open, honest and engaged.
• Manage, develop and motivate the HSE Team to achieve their potential.
• Be a critical friend to the business, providing direction and support to the business to enable them to continuously improve HSE.
• Attend relevant training courses, in order to improve knowledge and maintain technical competence and housing sector understanding.
• Promote HSE best practice and customer excellence in everything you do.
• Be aware of Equality and Diversity, including Mental Health awareness, ensuring you comply with TRG’s policies, standards and values.Ensure that HSE requirements are met in accordance with TRG’s policy, procedures and statutory requirements.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
• NEBOSH Diploma or Equivalent.
• Member of IOSH, ideally Chartered
• Knowledge of quality and environmental issues as well as asbestos, health and safety regulations and carrying out risk assessments.
• Ability to show initiative and propose solutions to issues identified.
• The ability to successfully persuade and influence others both internally and external to the organisation.
• Evidence of using sound judgement when making effective decisions.
• Experience of successfully leading, managing and motivating teams, including managing team performance.
• Commercially aware with a focus on continuous improvement and the ability to drive change.
• Customer focused with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work at all levels within the business.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure, deliver to strict deadlines and manage conflicting priorities.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and internal software packages.
• Relevant environmental and / or quality management qualification e.g. IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management or ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor, or equivalent.
Additional Information:
• RPS has premises across the southern region of the UK, and on this basis there will be the requirement to travel to other locations to effectively perform this role. This role will be predominantly on-site with some flexibility for homeworking.
• This role will work collaboratively with the Group HSE team and Evolve Facility Services Head of QHSE to ensure efficient effective HSE systems are adopted Group wide.
• The role will be exposed to sensitive information; therefore the role holder is expected to maintain levels of confidentiality at all times.
• In order to fulfil the requirements of this role, you will be required to work flexibly during the hours of operation.
• It is a requirement that the role holder holds a current, valid UK driving licence.
