Video Channels Manager (distribution)

Job Introduction
We're looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as Video Channels Manager to optimise video content for reach and impact.
You will play a pivotal role in enhancing the reach and impact of Metro's video content, helping us grow our brand.
This position demands a highly organized multitasker with a keen eye for quality control and a deep understanding of video on social media platforms including TikTok, YouTube and Instagram.
Responsibilities
Content Strategy and Asset Creation:
• Collaborate with production teams who develop compelling video content for YouTube and various social media platforms (X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, MSN, TikTok).
• Develop content schedules and channel strategy aligned with broader company goals.
• Create quality thumbnails and graphics using tools like Adobe or Canva for improved content output.
Distribution and... Optimisation:
• Craft optimised titles, descriptions, and tags to maximise content discoverability.
• Upload and schedule content across platforms, utilising social media expertise to maximise reach and engagement.
• Monitor video performance using analytics tools and identify actionable insights to inform distribution strategies.
• Share actionable insights effectively across all creative teams to ensure editors continuously commission engaging content
• Stay on top of social media best practices to ensure video content adapts to platform changes.
• Work closely with stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of content creation, distribution, and company goals.
• Identify and integrate cutting-edge tools and methods for video distribution and content creation to keep us ahead of the competition.
• Continuously seek process improvements to enhance workflow efficiency and content quality.
Key Skills
• Proven experience in content management and/or video distribution
• Extensive understanding of major social media platforms (e.g. YouTube, Instagram, Facebook) and their content optimisation strategies
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data insights for strategic decision making
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple workflows simultaneously
• Creative problem-solving skills and a passion for engaging video content
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro) or similar is desirable
• Proficiency in project management tools (such as Trello) is a plus
• Understanding of the UK media and copyright law
• Willingness to work in a dynamic, fast-paced 24/7 news environment with flexibility to work unsociable hours as and when required
