We are seeking an experienced Senior HSE Officer to join this long-standing African operation. In this role you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health and safety programs that support the Underground Operations.
Reporting to the HSE Manager your key responsibilities will include:
• Promoting activities designed to maintain and to improve health and safety throughout the operation
• Ensuring workplace practices comply with state and company standards
• Leading the development and implementation of health and safety objectives, processes, programs, and initiatives across the sites.
• Serve as the company health & safety liaison with local, and state, as well as our strategic partners.
• Ensuring health, safety and security programs and supporting plans are developed, communicated, implemented and reviewed; advise and... support the site team on such matters.
• Coordinating with site teams to continually improve health safety, and security performance through the identification of risks and opportunities. Manage, review, and assess health & safety data as a tool for continuous improvement.
• Together with the site leadership team, lead and support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Health and Safety programs to mitigate risk, prevent injuries, meet regulatory requirements and protect people, property, and the environment across the sites.
• Facilitating and participate in the development, implementation, and ongoing review of risk assessments, the site risk registers and control plans.
• Coordinating the Critical Risk Management program. Development and implementation of crisis and emergency management planning, coordination, and incident response.
• Participating in detailed incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Ensuring adequate Emergency Response requirements are met
• Generate weekly and monthly and yearly reports;
Your background:
• Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or Applied Sciences.
• Relevant safety technical, managerial, and financial knowledge.
• Mining industry experience in hard rock underground mining.
• Occupational health and safety instructor (underground); experienced in developing and conducting health & safety training.
• Applied knowledge of relevant OSHA, MSHA, state and other regulatory requirements, as well-as industry standards and practices.
