Hootananny Brixton is an independent late night live Music Venue/pub/backpackers hostel in South London. We have live bands and djs 5+ nights a week with genres ranging from garage, hip-hop, reggae, Latin, DnB, funk, soul and everything in between. We open as a pub when there are no events.
We are now looking for a new full-time General Manager! This bar management role will oversee the excellent operation of the 870 capacity bar at the venue and ensure in conjunction with the music team that successful, fun and memorable shows are produced for our customers.
Duties:
• Overall charge of day-to-day venue operations
• Organise rotas of bar/box office/security staff
• Weekly GP and labour cost analysis to ensure profitability
• Ensure bar is run smoothly with effective wastage control
• Weekly stock ordering
• Be up to date with all H&S policies and ensure venue is safe and adhering to license objectives
• Drive sales and promotional activities
• Keep costs in check without... compromising on quality or guest satisfaction.
• Effective reporting of maintenance issues to maintenance team
• Effective reporting of accidents/incidents
• Staff recruitment and training including quarterly staff meetings
• Respond to HR matters as and when they arise
• Ensure PDQ machines and tills operate correctly
• Ensure drink dispensing equipment is working
• Work with music team to ensure smooth running of all shows
• Liaise with bands/artists
• Delegate tasks to Duty Managers and ensure they are competent in your absence
• On duty management of all teams during evening shifts
• Check in hostellers into the backpackers hostel when receptionists are not present with DM team
• Report to CEO

• Minimum of two years of bar management experience
• Personal License
• Confident, able to take charge, affable, level-headed, able to deal calmly with customers, authorities and staff, have problem solving skills, be efficient
• Multi-tasker, Excel proficient, HR rota management software proficiency, proactive in finding solutions, technically proficient with bar technology and drink dispensing equipment
• Keen to pick up new skills and devise new initiatives
• Excellent cellar management skills
