Job title: Commercial Director - Passenger & Freight

Hybrid Schedule: 3/2 with 3 days being in the office/in the field and 2 remote
Purpose and Duties
The Commercial Director is responsible for executing the Passenger and Freight commercial strategy. This involves identifying, negotiating and contracting growth opportunities and regular customer engagement including development of new relationships.
• Key customer contact in the Passenger and Freight market
• Accountable for negotiating and documenting each new or extended lease agreement
• Identifying, negotiating and contracting growth opportunities – including MSA and SPA contracts - supporting the necessary internal approvals process
• Informing Finance of new or amended lease conditions to support accurate billing
• Regular customer and market engagement including development of new relationships
• Maintaining 100% utilisation across existing portfolio
•... Developing commercial propositions related to asset modifications
• Proactively work with and support wider Beacon colleagues (Legal/technical/finance) to achieve the best outcome for Beacon as a whole
• Timely and accurate reporting of all relevant stakeholders
• Interface with wider European Commercial Team and provide support as needed
• Ability to travel extensively, both UK and Europe
What we are looking for:
• A minimum of 7 years’ experience in direct lease marketing and origination in the rail industry
• Proven experience of balancing stakeholder expectations against the needs and capabilities of the business and suppliers
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Practical experience of risk management and contracts assurance
• Wide and successful background in the rail industry with extensive experience at a senior level of contracting
• Qualified to degree level in relevant subject area
• Proven commercial leadership at an individual contributor level (this is not a people management role)
• Successful experience in negotiating commercial arrangements
• The ability to work in a demanding high paced investment banking style environment.
• Ability to learn and balance the needs of customers based in both the UK and in Europe.
