Senior Regulatory Counsel - Top Trading Firm - US Focus (Remote) at Simmons & Hanbury

We are partnered with a leading Algorithmic Trading Firm who are looking to hire Senior Legal Counsel who will focus on US regulatory matters applicable to the business. Ideally you will have a blend of Tradfi and Crypto Regulatory experience focusing on on-exchange trading, OTC Trading and liquidity provisioning. You will also have the opportunity to work on a varied set of regulatory... topics, as well as commercial contracts, commercial disputes and litigation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead US regulatory research and advise the business on the most appropriate implications of such regulations to each of the various business lines.
• Keep up to speed on constantly evolving cryptocurrency regulation (SEC, CFTC, FINRA, IRS, etc)
•Lead and coordinate inquiries or information requests from regulators or other third parties whilst also advising on regulatory changes to template documentation. This could also involve leading working with commercial counsel on drafting and negotiating a wide range of agreements.
•Advise, implement and operationalise any US legal advice or regulatory or case-law developments as needed, whilst ensuring alignment with the general and global business objectives.
Experience Requirements:
· Circa 5-10 years of experience practicing law (qualified) at a top-tier law firm or as in-house counsel for a firm specialized in financial services, fintech and/or crypto;
· Detailed knowledge of US regulation applicable to trading firms - money transmission laws, SEC/FINRA and CFTC/NFA rules and regulations as applies to proprietary trading crypto firms in the US and abroad.
· Curiosity and interest to learn other areas of law and business quickly.
· To note - this will be a fully remote position however the preference is for candidates to be based in the UK or East Coast of the US.
