A law firm seeks a motivated Junior Associate to join its London office, specializing in international arbitration. This entry-level position is designed for a recent graduate or early-career attorney with a passion for dispute resolution and a desire to develop their skills in high-value arbitration cases. The successful candidate will work closely with partners and colleagues on complex cases involving transnational commercial contracts and international investment treaties.
Duties
• Collaborate with partners and team members to advise and represent clients in commercial arbitration, investment treaty arbitration, and public international law matters.
• Conduct thorough research and document reviews to support ongoing cases.
• Draft legal documents, including advice, correspondence, and pleadings, ensuring clarity and precision.
• Gather evidence and assist in the preparation of witness and expert testimony for arbitration proceedings.
• Liaise directly with clients, witnesses... experts, tribunals, and opposing counsel to facilitate communication and case management.
• Assist in formulating case strategies and developing compelling arguments for presentation.
Requirements
• A qualification as a solicitor or barrister in England and Wales is highly desirable.
• Previous experience in a leading dispute resolution practice, chambers, or related organization, ideally with exposure to complex international arbitration matters.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and investigate intricate technical issues related to arbitration.
• A strong desire to develop oral and written advocacy skills.
Education
• Master’s degree in law or a related field from an accredited institution.
Certifications
• Admission to the Bar in England and Wales is preferred.
Skills
• Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft clear, concise, and persuasive legal documents.
• Proficient in legal research, with the ability to identify relevant sources and tools.
• Strong analytical skills to assess complex legal and factual issues and propose effective solutions.
• A solid understanding of the substantive and procedural aspects of contract and treaty arbitration law.
• Proven ability to present cases confidently and persuasively before tribunals while maintaining credibility.
• Effective communication skills to interact with clients and colleagues at all levels.
• Proficiency in additional foreign languages is a plus.
