We’re on the lookout for a dedicated Kitchen Porter to join our growing team at Planthood. As a rapidly expanding plant-based meal kit company, we’ve seen incredible growth since launching in 2020. We’ve served over 500,000 meals, been featured on BBC, Forbes, and The Evening Standard, and are now rated the highest meal delivery company on Trustpilot.
Your Role
As a Kitchen Porter, you’ll be an essential part of our kitchen operations. This role is ideal for someone who:
• Enjoys carrying out essential kitchen tasks, doing lots of manual washing up, organising, cleaning and working behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly.
• Is available for shifts on Tuesday (08:30/09:00-18:00) and Saturday (07:30/08:00-15:30) and can cover additional shifts for holidays when needed. Start time slightly more flexible.
• Has a keen interest in vegan food and is excited to learn from a team of experienced chefs.
•... Is looking to get their foot in the door of the plant-based food industry with potential to grow into new roles.
• Wants to work in a friendly, supportive environment with more sociable hours than traditional restaurant settings.
Key Responsibilities
• Assisting chefs with inbound deliveries and transporting heavy goods around the site.
• Learning the basics of kitchen prep and cleaning, working alongside some of the best Kitchen Porters in the business.
• Carrying out a variety of tasks including washing dishes, cleaning, packing food, and potentially cooking.
• Supporting production by picking up extra shifts as a Production Assistant, helping to pack meal kits and ensuring smooth kitchen operations.
• Opportunity to learn light chef duties, such as prepping food, cooking sauces, and helping out during busier times.
• Following all Health & Safety protocols, especially when handling heavy goods.
About You
We’re looking for someone with a positive, can-do attitude who can help keep our kitchen running efficiently. While experience in a kitchen or as a KP is great, we’re most excited to find someone who is keen to learn and grow with us. If you’ve got the right attitude, we’ll teach you the rest!
Hours and Pay
• Part-time (Tuesdays and Saturdays guaranteed) with the potential for additional shifts as a Production Assistant.
• Pay: £12.50 per hour starting.
• Consistent working hours, but with the flexibility to pick up additional shifts.
