A well-established and contemporary, semi-fine dining, Indian restaurant in a fashionable and thriving part of London is looking for a highly experienced, reliable and knowledgeable Sous Chef who will work under the Head Chef and assist him in developing recipes, menu items along with menus for special events, calendar-related event days and activations.
The candidate must have good culinary skills in Indian cuisine and the Subcontinent with all its regional influences, ingredients and flavours. Excellent co-ordination is also required during busy service times with the Executive Chef, Curry Chef and the Tandoori Chef.
Knowledge of arrangement and plating are also important for the candidate, who will harbour a sense of ambition, passion and enjoy... cooking.
With the ability to oversee the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence, the Sous Chef must liaise with and manage the kitchen team with an affable persona yet show leadership and firmness when required to ensure that the everyone’s duties, especially during busy service times, are carried out smoothly and efficiently.
Food preparation techniques, food health and safety regulations and best practices are an extremely important aspect of the role as are food inventory needs, stocking and ordering.
