OUR LOVE AFFAIR with cakes began back in 2002 when we opened our first Cakes & Bakes branch in Eastham, London.
We imagined a place where customers searching for scrumptious eggless cakes and savouries could discover a wide range fit for any occasion, without paying through the roof.
Our customers seem to love what we do and have played an integral part in our Cakes & Bakes success story—the cherry on the top being the opening of our fourth and fifth branches in Barking Road and Barkingside.
Key Requirements:
• Decorating a vast array of different cakes, (including Icing / Sugar, Paste, Cream Cakes, Novelty Cakes, Wedding Cakes and more)
• Quality checks as per company standards
• Baking cake and savory products
• To aid the Head Chef to achieve the BakeHouse budgeted food costs.
• To carry out month-end food stock taking.
• To be responsible for the day-to-day ordering of food for a section in line with UK purchasing guidelines.
• Ensure food... prepared is of highest possible standards.
• Controlling portion sizes in accordance with food specifications.
• Plan and allocate jobs/tasks to subordinate staff, ensuring that all items produced are according to standard recipes, portion yields and within agreed time limits and minimum wastage.
• Dealing with food complaints efficiently.
• Ability to demonstrate strong organizational skills.
• Check that all food safety regulations and procedures are fully complied with.
• Report any defective equipment or safety hazards within the kitchen.
• Follow proper hygiene practices and maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times, adhering to food safety regulations.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
• Communication skills both listening and verbal
• Ability to build good working relationships
• Ability to work using own initiative
• Strong English language.
• Good Experience as a Cake Decorator /pastry chef
Soft skills:
• Team player
• Flexible and open-minded, able to adapt within a fast-changing environment
• Quick self-starter, pro-active attitude
