Basic Purpose and Objective of the Position This person will join a department of actuaries, accountants, and analysts that provide financial / actuarial analysis and reporting related to Protective Life’s life insurance and annuity products. This position will interact with other areas such as accounting, investments, audit, valuation, and experience studies, and will be involved with the execution of acquisition integration, when needed. This position is responsible for completing various monthly and quarterly accounting responsibilities including general ledger journal entries, reporting packages/deliverables, reconciliations for ledger accounts, and other various assigned duties. This position will help ensure data integrity by analyzing work and providing support. These responsibilities must be performed timely and accurately with great attention to detail. This position will, from time to time, be assigned accounting projects to assist with specific corporate and/or department goals and objectives. This position uses tools such as Excel, SAP, SAP Analysis for Office, Access, and various administrative systems.

Responsibilities
- Participate in the quarterly financial reporting process, with responsibility for accurate and timely reporting; Review and analyze income statement and balance sheet accounts; design effective tools / reports to conduct analysis; reporting to external parties.
- Participate in the annual financial reporting process including preparation of annual statement exhibits and footnotes, 10-K disclosures, rating agency surveys, state forms and filings.
- Support the valuation teams regarding valuation system conversions and new products, including updates to reporting tools as needed.
- Researching miscellaneous questions that arise (including querying SAP ledger and/or valuation databases)
- Taking ownership for learning and transitioning tasks from acquired companies.
- Other job duties as assigned, including ad hoc management reports and special projects.
- Responsible for preparation of account reconciliations.
- Assist with support for internal and external auditors for quarterly and annual reviews.
Experience/Education
- A background in actuarial work, accounting, or auditing.
- Strong analytical abilities and financial acumen.
- A bachelor’s degree is required. A minimum of 3-5 years of applicable accounting, actuarial or finance related experience is required, preferably in the insurance industry.
- Highly proficient in MS Excel (Pivot Tables, V-lookups, Macros, etc.)
Protective’s targeted salary range for this position is $61,000 to $80,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees.This position also offers additional incentive opportunities [through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance] OR [through cash compensation as part of a sales incentive plan (SIP).
