Job Descrption
Ormiston Latimer Academy is an alternative provision academy in The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea (RBKC). It is commissioned to provide education for pupils that are at risk of exclusion or are excluded from school with the aim to achieve reintegration back into school, further education or employment.
We are seeking to appoint a talented, committed and highly-motivated individual to the post of Assistant Principal (SENCO). The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to our aims and values and a proven track record of delivering excellent outcomes for students with significant individual needs.
The successful candidate would ideally have:
• Experience of developing and delivering programmes for pupils with SEN
• An understanding of methods and good practice in reviewing and evaluating teaching & learning
• Evidence of knowledge and understanding of effective record keeping, and its use to promote the educational and personal development of all... children within an Alternative Provision
• An understanding of national developments in the area of social inclusion and SEN
• Knowledge of the National Curriculum, including Programmes of Study and national strategies related to teaching pupils with SEN
• Knowledge of a range of accreditation available to students
• An understanding of behaviour management strategies
• Ability to build effective working relationships with a range of partners and stakeholders.
• Ability to motivate colleagues and pupils through a positive and professional attitude
• Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
• Ability to use key aspects of ICT to present data
• Excellent behaviour management skills based on a firm but empathetic approach with pupils.
