Job Descrption
To act as a specialist advisor in all matters relating to HCID to all health care workers in the Trust Ensure documentation is complete and up to date, in line with NMC and Trust guidelines Take responsibility for own personal growth and keep up to date with professional development and research Participate in staff appraisal, staff development and training activities as required Participates in monitoring the quality of care delivered using clinical standards and takes necessary action to ensure excellence in nursing practice. Bases standards upon relevant research where possible Provide expert HCID advice in the development of auditing Be able to undertake quality improvement projects to improve practice and sustain change To participate in small research projects within IPC Demonstrate a professional approach to work, and act in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct at all times To have knowledge of and adhere to Trust policy and professional standard Working with the Infection... Prevention and Control team, HCID Group/Leads and relevant clinical areas Leads to establish and maintain the HCID SOP within all the HCID Care environments Participation in HCID guideline and policy development, adhering to good governance Monitoring and reviewing clinical and professional standards of care, reporting on performance, and instituting remedial action where necessary Linking with appropriate multi-professional groups and being a visible presence attending local, directorate, Trust and group meetings as appropriate Leading and taking continuing responsibility for the in-service HCID development of all relevant staff working within the relevant specialty area Providing leadership and motivation to establish research or evidence- based clinical practices, leading to standard setting and regular audit Taking an active nursing lead role within the National HCID Network, including centre coordination and attendance at network meetings To identify training and development needs (including collaboration with the Health and Safety Team on FFP3 mask Fit Testing) of all relevant staff working within the specialty area in accordance with local and national policies To support staff in the provision of regular local and relevant teaching and training sessions To be a source of highly specialist clinical and educational knowledge and to provide clinical supervision To develop and maintain a PPE training programme and schedule for all relevant staff within the specialty areas. The post holder will also be required to deliver training as required To ensure an accurate staff log is retained of completion of HCID training, acceptable to and certifiable by the Trust, and any other data that may reasonably be requested for audit purposes Responsible for the development and co-ordination of a simulation-based training programme for clinical staff. The post holder will be required to play an active role in scenario setting, participation, debriefing, data gathering and analysis Ensure training programmes are followed to ensure staff meet statutory training requirements (fire, resuscitation, health & safety, infection control, manual handling) where they apply to HCID Devise orientation/induction for new staff members and arrange an ongoing programme of training for qualified and unqualified staff and overseas nurses requiring adaptation to the care and management of patients within the HCID environments Ensure that the Trust is prepared for admission of HCID patients Developing and reviewing specialist policies and protocols, in order to promote and maintain the highest standards of infection prevention and control practice that is evidence and research based.

Provide training and education to increase awareness of HCID preparedness amongst all disciplines and grades of staff within the Trust. Create quality improvement projects across a wide range of settings to support best evidence practice The HCID clinical educator will have oversight of a broad range of infection prevention and control issues/HCID matters. They will provide advice, education, and support on all aspects of HCID to the diverse range of departments, patients, and staff. They will be competent in the delivery of training and audit programmes.

To lead, facilitate, support, and monitor the development and implementation of HCID projects in line with the Infection Prevention and Control annual programme when required. Always act as the patient's advocate in promoting, and delivering the highest standard of nursing care, ensuring all fundamentals of care are addressed, and current relevant policies and procedures are adhered to in relation to infection prevention and control. The post holder will assist in the analysis of data and the preparation of results for reporting and dissemination of data by working with the multidisciplinary teams. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first months pay.
