Requirements
• Pursuing a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or any related field,
• Must be a rising senior at the time of their internship and returning to school at the end of their internship to continue their academic studies for at least one quarter/semester,
• Collegiate project team or laboratory experience,
• Currently enrolled in an undergrad or graduate engineering program,
• CAD skills (any platform) and ability to make high quality engineering drawings that meet common industry standards,
• Demonstrated hands-on fabrication skills,
• High competence with, and fluid use of, engineering first principles,
• Ability to complete an in-person 12-week internship in Costa Mesa, CA,
• (Desirable) Prior internship experience and/or leadership on a collegiate project team or laboratory,
• (Desirable) Experience in NX/Teamcenter and/or Solidworks,
• (Desirable) Experience with FEA and/or CFD analysis tools,
• (Desirable) Ability to integrate electrical... components into designs (motors, controllers, sensors etc.),
• (Desirable) Experience with machining, sheet metal, injection molding, and 3D printing
What the job involves
• Design & build prototypes, analyze failures, and transition successful projects into production,
• Present design reviews, run analysis, visit vendors, design & execute hardware test plans,
• Use first principles physics as a basis for every decision,
• Travel to test sites and vendors as needed
