THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly creative and passionate Senior Designer / Design Manager to lead and inspire our footwear design team. This role involves overseeing both women's and men's footwear collections, ensuring all design categories are aligned with the creative vision and delivered to market on... time. You will manage a talented team in London and collaborate with design teams overseas, ensuring seamless communication and execution. Your expertise in technical footwear design and innovation will be pivotal in driving the brand's growth and maintaining its position as a leader in the fashion industry.
Key Responsibilities:
• Creative Leadership:
• Lead and manage the footwear design team across London and international offices, fostering creativity and innovation.
• Translate the Creative Director's vision into commercially viable and trend-setting designs across both men’s and women’s footwear categories.
• Ensure all designs are aligned with brand identity, market trends, and customer expectations.
• Design & Development:
• Oversee the design process from concept to final product, including sketching, prototyping, and final production.
• Provide deep technical expertise in footwear construction, materials, and manufacturing techniques.
• Innovate with new materials, technologies, and design techniques to create cutting-edge, market-leading footwear.
• Ensure all product categories (sneakers, boots, sandals, formalwear, etc.) are fully developed within each season.
• Team Management:
• Lead, mentor, and inspire a multi-disciplinary design team, fostering growth and creativity.
• Manage the workflow between London and overseas design teams, ensuring collaboration and timely delivery of projects.
• Oversee project timelines and ensure all designs meet critical deadlines and production schedules.
• Conduct performance evaluations, set team goals, and ensure continuous skill development.
• Collaboration & Communication:
• Work closely with product developers, manufacturers, and suppliers to ensure design feasibility and production quality.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with merchandising, marketing, and sales teams to align on design strategy and collection launches.
• Maintain strong relationships with external vendors and production partners, ensuring smooth communication and execution.
• Trend Research & Innovation:
• Stay ahead of fashion trends, materials, and consumer behavior to inform the design process.
• Conduct competitor analysis and market research to keep the brand at the forefront of innovation.
• Regularly present design concepts, mood boards, and updates to senior leadership and the Creative Director.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Footwear Design, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in footwear design, with a strong portfolio showcasing creative and technical excellence.
• Proven leadership experience in managing and mentoring design teams.
• Deep understanding of both men’s and women’s footwear, including technical construction, materials, and design process.
• Ability to balance creativity with commerciality, ensuring designs are both innovative and market-ready.
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills, with experience managing teams across multiple locations.
• Passionate about fashion, footwear, and staying ahead of design trends.
• experience in all Adobe Creative Suite and Procreate
