This post is part-time and permanent, working 17.5 hours per week. The salary stated above is the pro-rata amount, the full time salary would be £39,236 - £44,616 per annum (Incl. LWA).

The Quality and Standards Office plays a key role in the development of the University’s quality assurance and academic regulatory frameworks, including the approval, monitoring and review of courses. It also provides a Committee Secretariat function and supports the University’s three Colleges in meeting their responsibility for quality assurance, academic standards and governance.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated individual to join the University to support the delivery of tripartite progress reviews to urban and regional planning apprentices in the School of Architectures & Cities for our - MA Urban and Regional Planning (RTPI Professional Apprenticeship) programme, a Level 7 Chartered Planner apprenticeship.

The right candidate will play an essential role in the mentoring and... development of the University’s apprentices who work in private sector, local government and as statutory consultees. The Skills Coach will represent the university in tripartite progress review meetings involving the employer and apprentice and will also be involved in developing the apprentice’s practical experience and skills in the delivery of workshops on topics involved with urban planning as part of our Professional Practice Weeks. They will play a key role in supporting apprentices as they progress through the End Point Assessment.

We are interested in hearing from qualified planning practitioners who have experience in development management and/or planning policy, from either a private or public sector background. We are interested in candidates that have experience in being able to deliver a range of skills to the apprentices, such as knowledge of the planning system, appeals process, and some of the associated topics that planners get involved with, for example, heritage, open space, design, enforcement, housing, employment, amongst others. With an approachable nature the Skills Coach should be a confident speaker and be able to hold discussions and workshops to engage with apprentices as they develop to be successful planners.
